Ignition lock cylinders

Ignition lock cylinders can be purchased in two different ways; coded when the lock is already set up to a random key or uncoded when a technician will have to assemble the lock to match the desired key code.

In situations where the ignition has been replaced keeping the keys that came with it you will end up with two different keys, door and ignition. The lock can be disassemble and rekey to match the original combination. There is no need to carry the extra key when the job can be done the proper way by matching the original key code of the car and keep the factory settings.

If a working key for the car is available Car Dealerships and mechanic shops in need of support at the request of their customers will subcontract a locksmith to rekey ignitions before installation because this is not a service that they provide; if not the part will be install as it came in the original package.

Another benefit of a well-executed procedure will be the savings on programming fees and new transponder keys. The majority of cars have anti-theft system, it is pretty much standard; the coded ignition locks come with dummies keys that will have to be exchange for transponder keys and program later on in order to authorize the key to start the car.
